Feeling like a tourist
Very good weather for scouring Chinatown for quirkish stuff! No blazing hot sun! The 1st shop we headed in immediately after exiting the Chinatown train station, both rowe & i bought a vintage retro dress and i got another batik-print tube dress. The latter cost me only $15! It is a haven for retro and vintage clothes lovers and they are so reasonably-priced. Around $40-$50 before discounts for our vintage retro dress only cost us $35 after 30% discount. Best part... one piece for each color for the dress we got... rowe & i already bought 2 colours so which means only another lucky gurl would be having the same dress as us and it wouldn't even be the same colur. teehee!Had lunch at the quirky heritage restaurant owned by Alvin Koh aka Porridge King. The Ah Gong Char Mee is delightful! We also ordered the curry in the bamboo which is according to the menu, more healthy than the usual curry and the drink, black widow, which is supposedly good for the complexion. They actually dropped in a effervescent vitamin which we were told to wait till it sizzles out before we attempt to drink it.
After lunch, sourced around for cheap souvenirs cos dear rowe has to prepare a-taste-of-singapore souvenirs for 70 participants for the Youth Asean convention in Korea. Chanced upon a corner store and decided to sit down for some henna tattoo!
And whalaa... beauuutiifuull hands... plus... beautiful 'zit' in between our brows!
Continued our tour and gosh... cny goodies everywhere. Wanted to buy a few jelly snacks and the guy just keep piling my bag with more. Ended up with freaking 4kg worth of jelly and both of us got a hell of a shock when the guy told me it costs $70! For 100gm costs $1.80! Before I even paid he started piling like 1kg of freebies into the orange bag. What the deuce... Bargained and ended up paying $66. Now... the lugging of that 5kg is so gonna train up my arm muscles... Sigh... they probably bullied me cos' we are xiao jie[s] (how they address us), look easy to bully... unlike aunties. So learnt my lesson... Must start brushing up on such skills seriously. This is also part of self-defence! Defending my $$!
